Difference between various Bipan Chandra books?
I'm starting to prepare for the CSE and while going through few book lists I was confused between various Bipan Chandra Books which are
- Modern India - NCERT
- Freedom Struggle - National Book Trust
- History of Modern India - Orient Blackswan
- India's Struggle for Independence - Penguin
- India Since Independence - Penguin
What's the difference between them?

@John_Titor Any specific reasons?
Spectrum is not enough?
@heisenberg go for spectrum by rajiv ahir
Among these : Bipin chandramodern india (ncert) is also enough.. these all are bulky books.. so read only at the cost of time!
@Urvashi Thank you ma'am, I'll go with Rajiv Ahir.
Do the rest of his books have roughly same content as NCERT?
@John_Titor No no .. actually when we do 6 to 12 ncert of history very well.. than as a standard book spectrum fits best in the scenerio...
I tried to read all the bipin chandra mentioned above in my initial years.. and ended up doing only history for 4-5 months..
In another attempt I had the insight test series which recommended that time bandhopadhyay and so I started with it but it made, at least, my situation worse than before... as per me its not at all required..
In this attempt I read only 6 to 12 ncerts..which are way more lucid and better for a person like me who do disaster with history.. so better option is to go with very basic things..
When I read spectrum, I found it is summary of all Bipin Chandra's book.. so better option is NCERT+spectrum for GS history..
Other than that, one can read for interest or optional, its all personal choice after all !
@Urvashi Alright. So, I will go with NCERTs 6-12 + Spectrum.
