GS Score Mains test series 2020 v/s Forum MGP batch B
Need reviews for GS Score's mains test series and MGP.
Planning to join one from gs score's 2020 mains tests series or forum's mgp batch B.
which one would be better?
- quality of papers
- evaluation quality
- evaluation time
- accessibility of mentors/evaluators]
Exact same dilemma! Can someone please shed some light?
@powerpuffgirl Why not visionias?
@LeoMessi because their evaluation is not upto the mark and evaluation time is also more.
Forum is good!
Paper quality is good too and evaluation,mentor guidance are quick and apt!
No idea about GS score though!
How is neostencil online course on ethics??for 2020
@powerpuffgirl Ok, Does MGP provide toppers copy?
already made similar thread earlier
i will join MGP coz wrt to the review available mgp is good secondly they will provide a personal mentor to each or 3-4 students
my question is is they have any introduction class for ans writing ?
according to their schedule they directly put test on 27 july
@powerpuffgirl gs score 's paper is nowhere near upsc.they correct copy within 15 days.faculty -student one to one is organised after each test.each teacher there is an expert.based on my experience with their mains qand a2019
@powerpuffgirl same dilemma here. Please experienced guys throw some valuable suggestions.
I have taken GS SCORE Ethics and History Optional test series
One thing I want to say is they make paper tough (you may find UPSC GS paper easy after this )
- One thing that I noted is sometimes in making things tough they go too deep in topics . Such depth is not expected generally in GS Papers
Forum MGP (Personal Experience) : If you are joining full year test series, you will find it good till prelims as they do not have enough on their plate till then. So copies will be corrected on time, mentor feedback will be available, 1 on 1 discussions as well - try to get these discussions with Asif Sir. Asif Sir will invariably advice you on making notes, making diagrams, presentation etc. But please don't expect any of these guidance in post prelims phase. You would be lucky if you get these copies corrected in time post prelims. Regarding 1 mentor for 3-4 people, I am not sure if that is the case, as it wasn't until last year.
GS Score (Friend's Experience) : The test papers are vague but discussions happen on time and copies get corrected on time (pre-prelims phase)
The quality of test papers is better for forum than GS Score but even Vision papers are good.
None of the test series are indicative of the questions in Mains, but then you are not joining to replicate papers in exams but to get answer writing practice and in the way if some questions come in Mains from test series, you are lucky.
Hope it helps.
@ManchesterUnited thanks for the review!
didn't get the quote though, mind sharing the meaning?!
@The_Powerpuff_girl hello fellow powerpuff!
so is it worth joining?
@ashishyadav1033743 so that basically derails you somewhere?
moreover if the paper unreasonably tough, confidence is lost.
@vermanikhil199027018 thanks for your guidance sir.
but staying in track is also equally important. If the questions are vague, won't it demotivate us somehow, that we are unable to grasp the demand of the question?
@powerpuffgirl Yes at some points they go too far away and de rail you
@powerpuffgirl The thing is that there is no track. In Mains you will invariably get 1-2 questions in each paper where you will have to make up answer. GS Score being vague is my friend's assessment. I recommend you try to connect to others who have first hand experience with GS Score. But post prelims, even they will delay the corrections.
I am not sure about your stage of preparation. If you have covered entire syllabus and ready to write tests, I would suggest Vision. If you are in notes preparation stage, I would suggest Forum as they will help you to prepare notes+answer writing+presentation etc. But it is upto you to write tests on time and invariably book appointments with the faculty (I would suggest Asif Sir) to get feedback. I dont think any faculty would undertake any discussions for 2020 batch before mains, so I dont see a point joining a test series in july.
@vermanikhil199027018 the problem is that i find it tough to practice answer writing on my own. In test series, you get pre set question paper and a review, it cuts a lot of slack.
That's why i was planning to join test series from now onwards.
Level of preparation- second attempt, chances of clearing pre seems low (93-96 range)
so i just wanted to be ready for mains 2020, hence the plan to join now
